The Land Rover LR3 is perhaps the only SUV on the market which marries uncompromised integrity as an off road vehicle with civility needed for comfortable daily use (Toyota's wonderful FJ Cruiser is also a strong contender). The design, introduced in 2004, is a timeless update of classic Land Rover cues. Echoing the much loved Defender and Discovery models but paired down to their essence, the brand's language is captured in clean lines, balanced forms and subtly executed details. The majority of vehicles in the SUV category are merely oversize cars with beefed up styling, heavy on the "sport" but light on genuine "utility". Inside and out, the LR3 manages to please those looking for the former without forsaking Land Rover's unique heritage built on the latter.
